Rudolph “Rudy” Arthur Alfinito was born on July 7, 1926 in Brooklyn, New York to Concetta (Cantalupo) and Genarro Alfinito. He passed away surrounded by family and the sounds of Luciano Pavarotti in his Bay Area home on March 20, 2023.

Rudolph moved to California with his family in the 1940’s. He met Clara Bratton who he later married and had three children with- Cara, Paula, and Tina. He was a lifelong restaurateur and owned many successful Bay Area restaurants including Cara’s, Rudolfo’s, and The Menu Tree, and Hillsdale Mall's San Remo’s Italian. Most recently, he owned and operated San Remo’s Ristorante & Pizzeria in San Carlos until the age of 92. He was passionate about Neapolitan cuisine and was the first to introduce pizza to the South Bay in 1951. He loved opera and could often be heard serenading his patrons.

He is preceded in death by brothers Alfred, George, Harry and Arthur, daughter Cara Alfinito, son Dennis Fairless, and granddaughter Rose Marie Hurlbut. He is survived by daughters Paula and Tina Alfinito, granddaughters Shawnee, Angelina and Giuliana Alfinito, great-granddaughter Adriana Romero, and dear friends Josefa Mellan and Estee Gonzalez.

He touched many lives with his kindness and generosity and will be remembered always.

Services for Rudy will be held on March 29, 2023.

A viewing will be held at Darling Fischer Campbell Memorial Chapel from 10:00am - 12:00pm Funeral Mass at St. Lucy's Catholic Church at 12:30pm followed by burial at Santa Clara Mission Cemetery at 2:00pm.
