After last week, it should come as no surprise that the North Bay Football Poll’s new No. 1 team is unanimous.

Cardinal Newman left little doubt in the debate about the top team in the North Bay with Friday’s 45-13 blowout of previous No. 1 Marin Catholic, a team that’s been a thorn in the Cardinals’ side for years.

The Cardinals received all eight first-place votes this week and will very likely end the regular season as the No. 1 team. Next week will be the last poll until the playoffs have concluded.

Outside of the top spots, we saw quite a bit of other movement as four teams between Nos. 4-10 lost last week.

American Canyon continues to rise and has now jumped to its highest spot yet at No. 4, following a dominant 48-7 win over then-No. 10 Casa Grande.

Windsor fell to Rancho Cotate 28-21 in another upset, costing the Jaguars one spot. St. Vincent and Vintage stay put in between the Jaguars and Cougars.

Ukiah and Maria Carrillo share No. 9 this week, with each team receiving eight points. The Pumas beat the Wildcats 50-43 in a wild shootout last week.

Casa Grande has fallen out of the top 10 and joins a handful of other teams that also received votes.
