Airman 1st Class, David McKenzy passed away on February 25, 2025.<br><br>David joined the US Air Force on February 19, 1959 completing his basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX. He served until being honorable discharged on June 19, 1962. He served in active duty at Formosa Air Station in Gongguan, Taipai and Kadena Airbase in Okinawa, Japan.<br><br>David was preceded in death by his loving wife of 41 years, Laura McKenzy (Wellbrock); parents Howard P. McKenzy and Lela Mae Kleindl (Rynearson); brother-in-law James Starrett; sister-in-law Hazel Gaard and in-laws Edna Wellbrock (Hansen) and Herbert Wellbrock. He is survived by daughters Kathy (Scott) Chernisky and Michelle (Scott) Lewis; grandsons Nick and Andy Chernisky, Tyler, Cody and Joshua Lewis; great-granddaughter Hadley Mae Chernisky; special friends Olivia Tilseth and Steven Juncewski; sister Phyllis Starrett; brother and sisters in law: Owen and Donna Wellbrock, Dawn and Fran Reinardy, Virgil Gaard; and many nieces and nephews.<br><br>Visitation will be 4-7 pm on Friday, February 28, 2025 at Kok Funeral Home, 1201 Portland Ave., St. Paul Park, MN. Funeral service at 11 AM on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, 1000 Portland Ave.; St Paul Park, MN with visitation one hour prior. Interment in Cottage Grove Cemetery.<br><br>The family would like to thank the staff of Talamore Senior Living, Allina Palliative, Home and Hospice Care, and Visiting Angles for their compassionate care and support.<br><br>Memorials in David’s honor may be made to St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, St. Paul Park or the ALS Society.<div></div><br>
