Preston Hodge played a key role in helping Liberty to a perfect regular season, but now wants to play in Boulder.

On Saturday, the former Liberty defensive back gave his verbal commitment to Colorado.

Listed at 5-foot-11, 195 pounds, Hodge played in 25 games with 10 starts during his two seasons at Liberty, helping the Flames go 13-0 and win the Conference USA title.

This year, Hodge started one game at free safety, one at cornerback and eight at the “star” position. He posted 48 tackles, three tackles for loss, two interceptions and eight pass breakups. Pro Football Focus gave him a coverage grade of 88.0, which was 22nd-best in the country for all defensive backs.

Hodge’s overall PFF rating of 86.1 was the best for Liberty’s defense.

Hodge played at Navarro College before going to Liberty. He has one season of eligibility remaining.
