



Thousands of illegal pills, along with several ounces of cocaine and fentanyl, firearms, and cash was seized during a pair of busts made earlier this month by Macomb County police.
The County of Macomb Enforcement Team (COMET) and Roseville police officers conducted a traffic stop on a subject “involved in the investigation of a Metro Detroit area drug trafficking organization on April 15.
In total, detectives seized approximately 2,000 pills of a mix of hydrocodone, oxycodone, amphetamine, morphine, and Xanax, over six ounces of cocaine, over an ounce of fentanyl, one ounce of crystal methamphetamine, almost two pounds of marijuana, drug packaging materials and over $20,000 with intent to forfeit.
Two days later, in an apparently unrelated incident, COMET officers conducted a raid on a house in Highland Park where they found similar contraband.
According to Michigan State Police, officers seized approximately half of a pound of fentanyl, a half-ounce of cocaine, psilocybin mushrooms, two assault rifles, and two pistols with one being a stolen firearm, a handheld pill press and narcotics packaging materials.
Authorities also confiscated about $10,000 with intent to forfeit.
MSP said investigations in both cases are ongoing.
Investigators did not reveal the names of the suspects or charges they face.
COMET is an undercover drug task force made up of officers from Chesterfield Township, the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office, Michigan State Police, Roseville, St. Clair Shores, Shelby Township, and federal agencies.
The investigations were supported by Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program (JAG) awarded by the U.S. Justice Department and administered by Michigan State Police.
