Riverside will get its first look inside the Farm House Collective on Saturday, March 29

The long-empty 1950s motel at 1393 University Ave. has been reimagined as a shopping center with its guest rooms turned into eateries and retail shops. Its developers have built a 500-capacity stage at the back of the property and have booked concerts into September.

The buildings have been painted bright barnhouse red and the horse and buggy that used to stand in front of the property is ready to be wheeled out.

On Friday, workers were dusting down wooden decks that were built in front of the rooms where parking used to be. A new parking lot was being finished next door.

There will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m., and the motel’s refurbished neon sign will light up, according to a news release. But the main event will be a concert starting at 5 p.m. with the Allah-Lahs and Reverberation Radio.

On opening day Batter Rebellion, an offshoot of a Redlands restaurant, and three pop-up eateries will open at 11 a.m., the news release said. A pop-up market called Pocket Change will open at 1 p.m.
