Legendary alternative rock band Cake will headline this year’s Sound Summit, which takes place at Mount Tamalpais’ Mountain Theater from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sept. 13. The band performed at the Mount Tam Jam in 2013, the show that inspired producer Michael Nash to launch Sound Summit in 2015.

The music festival’s 10th installment will also feature acclaimed Canadian pop-rock band Alvvays; Stand!, a tribute to iconic Bay Area band Sly and the Family Stone featuring San Rafael resident Narada Michael Walden, guitarist Taj Mahal and others; indie rockers Real Estate, whose bassist is West Marin resident Alex Bleeker; and folk rockers Wolf Jett. Vetiver’s Andy Cabic returns as the all-day DJ, and Brian Murphy and Paul McCaffrey, the former duo of KNBR’s “Murph & Mac” show, host.

Tickets go live at 10 this morning at soundsummit.net. Adult tickets are $120; ages 12 and younger are $60; ages 2 and younger are free. Reserved mountain parking is $65 and round-trip shuttle passes are $30.

The gathering is produced by Roots & Branches Conservancy to raise funds for Mount Tamalpais State Park. Sound Summit has raised more than $300,000 for the park since its first installment in 2015, featuring Dr. John and the Tedeschi Trucks Band, among others.

“We’re looking forward to another eclectic and memorable day on the mountain,” said festival producer Michael Nash. “We thought it would be cool to return to our roots for this benchmark and bring back Cake to helm the event, and they’re psyched to return. Also, curating this Bay Area celebration of Sly’s legacy with music director Larry Batiste has been particularly joyful. The music and lyrics feel as resonant and topical today as when they were written.”
