Oak Park police officers responding to a call of shots fired found a man lying in the street fatally wounded early Friday, officials said.

The shooting happened in the 600 block of South Boulevard shortly before 1:30 a.m., according to police. A spokesman for the Oak Park Police Department said the shooting happened on South Boulevard west of Wesley Avenue.

The victim, later identified as 54-year-old Corey Gates of South Holland, was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, where he was pronounced dead about 2 a.m., police said. An autopsy is scheduled for Saturday.

Witnesses saw five males dressed in black running from the scene. Those individuals, three juveniles and two adults, were taken into custody for questioning.

Police later arrested a third adult male in connection with the shooting, authorities said Friday afternoon.
