Seismic Beauty blazed her way to a win in her first try at the stakes level as jockey Antonio Fresu used the 4-year-old filly’s early speed to dominate the Santa Margarita Stakes at Santa Anita on Sunday.

Splendora and Juan Hernandez, 5 lengths back in second, completed a Bob Baffert-trained exacta in the $200,000, Grade II Santa Margarita, a 1 1/8-mile race for fillies and mares.

It was the third win in six career starts for Seismic Beauty, a daughter of Uncle Mo who paid $5.40 after winning by 10 lengths in her previous race. Her 1:48.30 clocking in the Santa Margarita was a fastest in the race since 2012.

Fresu, the leading rider at Santa Anita’s Hollywood Meet with19 victories to start the day, also took the lead in stakes wins with his fourth. Fresu got the mount on Seismic Beauty when Hernandez chose 4-5 favorite Splendora after riding both Baffert fillies previously.

In holiday racing tonday, Michael McCarthy-trained Formidable Man (Umberto Rispoli riding) is a 3-1 morning-line favorite in the Grade I Shoemaker Mile, Graham Motion’s No Show Sammy (Flavien Prat) 7-2 in the Grade I Gamely for fillies and mares, and Saffie Joseph’s Skippylongstocking (Irad Ortiz Jr.) even-money in the Grade II Hollywood Gold Cup.
