Police say bomb threat halted Rascal Flatts concert

NOBLESVILLE — Authorities said a bomb threat is what prompted country group Rascal Flatts to abruptly end a concert in Indiana last week.

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department said the bomb threat made Thursday night for Ruoff Home Mortgage Music Center in suburban Indianapolis was deemed a credible danger. The department said in a statement Monday night that it won’t release details about the threat while it is being investigated.

No arrests have been made concerning the threat.

The band didn’t return for an expected encore, after which a public-address announcement said the show was over. Security guards told people to evacuate the outdoor amphitheater.

Rascal Flatts said on Twitter that everyone was able to leave safely.

Same-sex marriage could cost Catholic school counselor job

INDIANAPOLIS — A guidance counselor at an Indianapolis Catholic school could lose her job after administrators learned that she was married to a woman.

Roncalli High School President Joseph D. Hollowell told the Indianapolis Star in an email Monday that Shelly Fitzgerald has been placed on administrative leave.

The newspaper said she’s worked for the school for 15 years and has been with her partner for 22 years. Fitzgerald said she’s hired an attorney.

The school responded to criticism of its stance with a Facebook post saying in part that “the personal conduct of every teacher, guidance counselor and administrator and staff member, both at school and away from school, must convey and be supportive of the teachings of the Catholic Church.”

WRTV reported a protest took place Monday at the school.
