College football: Kansas reinstated standout RB Pooka Williams after a seven-month suspension, but he will sit out the season opener against Indiana State. Williams, arrested and charged with domestic battery in December, reached a domestic violence diversion agreement with prosecutors in March. He was the third leading rusher in the Big 12 in 2018 with 1,125 yards and was the conference’s offensive freshman of the year.

CYCLING: Julian Alaphilippe won Stage 3 of the Tour de France and took the yellow jersey after the 133.6-mile ride that concluded in Epernay, France. It was the third career stage victory for the French rider. Alaphilippe leads Wout Van Aert of Belgium by 20 seconds.

NBA: Eight-time All-Star PG and former league MVP Russell Westbrook and his agent have discussed trade possibilities with Thunder GM Sam Presti, ESPN reported. The Heat already have emerged as a possible destination. Westbrook, 30, has played his entire 11-year career with the Thunder, but after the team agreed to trade All-Star F/G Paul George to the Clippers last weekend he expressed a desire to move on. ... F Jabari Parker agreed to a two-year, $13 million deal with the Hawks. The second year is a player option. Parker, 24, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2014 draft, averaged 14.5 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2.4 assists last season for the Bulls and Wizards. ... The Nuggets acquired F Jerami Grant for a 2020 pick in a trade with the Thunder, ESPN reported. Grant, 25, averaged career highs in points (13.6) and rebounds (5.2) and shot 49.7% from the field, 39.2% from 3-point range, blocked 100 shots and had 61 steals last season.

NFL: Former Patriots LB and ESPN analyst Tedy Bruschi announced on Instagram that he’s doing “much better” after suffering a second stroke Thursday. Bruschi, 46, also had a stroke in February 2005 days after the Patriots’ third Super Bowl win and learned he had a congenital heart defect that produced a hole in his heart. He retired after surgery but later returned and played three more seasons.

NHL: The Sharks re-signed RW Kevin Labanc to a one-year, $1 million contract. Labanc, 23, set career highs with 17 goals including four game-winners, 39 assists and 56 points last season.

Soccer: Brazil striker Neymar could face punishment after missing French champion Paris Saint-Germain’s first day of preseason training without informing the club. Neymar’s spokeswoman, Day Crespo, denied the allegation PSG wasn’t informed, and added the player will return to France on July 15 as agreed to “weeks ago.” PSG said in a statement that “Neymar wasn’t in attendance at the agreed time and place ... (and) without prior authorization.”
