Ashton Jeanty ran for 149 yards and two touchdowns, Maddux Madsen threw for 307 yards and four scores — both career highs — and No. 15 Boise State routed San Diego State 56-24 on Friday night for its sixth straight victory.

Jeanty had his eighth straight 100-yard game to break the school record set by Jay Ajayi in 2014. The star running back struggled in the first half with 37 yards on 15 carries before rushing for 112 yards in the third quarter and sitting out the fourth.

“We’re getting the kitchen sink thrown at us in terms of stopping the run,” Boise State coach Spencer Danielson said. “But the throws Maddux made in the box was what we needed.”

Madsen completed 24 of 32 passes without an interception for the host Broncos (7-1, 4-0 Mountain West).

“Maddux played elite tonight and I still believe there’s a lot more in the tank for him,” Danielson said. “I know there’s going to be a couple of things where he can grow, but he played big time tonight with what he did with the football and running for some first downs. I’m very proud of him.”

After Boise State scored on its first two possessions, A’Marion McCoy returned an interception 35 yards for a TD to make it 21-0 late in the first quarter. The Broncos made it three straight possessions with a TD midway through the second.

The Broncos’ lone loss was a 37-34 setback at now-No. 1 Oregon on Sept. 7. They have won three straight against San Diego State (3-5, 2-1) for the first time.

San Diego State coach Sean Lewis’s defense went all in to try to stop Jeanty early in the game, forcing Madsen to beat them with his arm.

Top QB out, Army still rolls: Kanye Udoh rushed for 158 yards and two TDs on Saturday to help No. 21 Army to a 20-3 home win over Air Force and the Black Knights’ nation-leading 12th straight win.

Playing without starting QB Bryson Daily, who missed the game with injury or illness per an academy statement, Udoh stepped up and carried the running load.

Udoh ran seven times for 48 yards on Army’s opening drive of the second half. The sophomore finished the possession off with a 12-yard touchdown run, his eighth of the season.

Army (8-0), the defending Commander in Chief’s champion, defeated Air Force for the fourth time in the last five meetings. The victory sets up a winner-take-all for the CIC trophy with Navy on Dec. 14 at Northwest Stadium in Landover, Maryland.

Udoh accounted for 158 of Army’s 209 rushing yards.

Senior safety Max DiDomenico’s red-zone interception sealed the victory for Army with 1:51 left. DiDomenico returned the interception 69 yards to Air Force’s 25. Udoh scored his second touchdown on the next play.

Daily missed practice this week with the injury/illness. Junior Dewayne Coleman made his first start for the Black Knights in Daily’s place.

Army struggled in the first half, settling for Trey Gronotte’s 30-yard field goal on its first drive. It was the first time this season that the Black Knights didn’t score a TD on its opening possession. Gronotte added a 32-yard field goal in the second quarter.

The loss was the seventh straight for Air Force (1-7).

Gophers go on road, beat Illini: Max Brosmer threw a 1-yard TD pass to Jameson Geers and Dragan Kesich kicked his fourth field goal of the game in the final five minutes, rallying Minnesota to a 25-17 road victory over No. 24 Illinois on Saturday.

It was the fourth consecutive win for Minnesota (6-3, 4-2 Big Ten), while Illinois (6-3, 3-3) dropped its second straight.

Brosmer completed 22 of 37 passes for 213 yards and a TD. Darius Taylor ran for 131 yards and a score on 22 carries and was the Golden Gophers’ leading receiver with nine catches for 58 yards. Elijah Spencer had six catches for 67 yards.

Luke Altmyer was 20 of 33 for 226 yards and a TD for the Illini, but lost two fumbles.

Illinois’ final drive ended deep in Minnesota territory when Altmyer was sacked by Jah Joyner and his fumble was recovered by Danny Striggow on the Gophers 27.

Pat Bryant had five catches for 72 yards and Zakhari Franklin caught five passes for 71 yards and a TD for the Illini. Josh McCray rushed seven times for 71 yards and a TD.

Illinois took a 17-16 lead with 9:03 to go when Altmyer threw a 21-yard TD pass to Franklin after Minnesota punter Mark Crawford’s run on a fake came up short, giving the Illini the ball on their own 46.

Vandy bowl-bound: Eli Stowers caught a 4-yard TD pass from Diego Pavia with 4:18 left and Vanderbilt became bowl eligible for the first time since 2018 with a 17-7 win over host Auburn.

The Commodores (6-3, 3-2 SEC) locked up another win in their surprising season with a 14-play, 78-yard drive that consumed 8 minutes, 53 seconds.
