Salinas
Babette (“Babs”) Naslund (August 4, 1939 to March 28, 2025) lived an energetic and adventurous life alongside her husband and best friend Herbert (Herb) Naslund. Babs led an active life, often seen walking several miles daily with their dog Sugar in South Salinas. She is survived by Herb, her daughter Taryl Meyenberg, son Randy Meyenberg (Colleen), stepsons Brian Naslund (Deborah) and Marc Naslund and 9 grandchildren Dana, Kyle, Laura, David, Andrew, Julia, David, Macey and Kaleigh.
Babs enjoyed traveling, seeing new places and meeting new people. She especially loved Cabo San Lucas where she and Herb enjoyed the sun and developed special relationships with several close friends. Babs naturally made connections with people and was genuinely interested in their lives, their stories and how they were doing. She enjoyed laughing, making jokes and was never too embarrassed to laugh at herself when she did something awkward or silly. Babs also loved hunting for collectible items with Herb and often traveled to new places to find them.
Even after her stroke 3 years ago and the struggles she faced, her sense of humor and her caring nature were ever present. She developed special relationships with many of the nurses, aides and doctors she worked with as a pediatric nurse at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital over the course of her 24 years, as well as with the people she met traveling, and those who had the opportunity to care for her during her illness.
Many thanks from Babs and her family to the caregivers who showed compassion and kindness to Babs during her illness. There will be a small private celebration of her life.
