


The Chico High School football team fell to 1-5 and 0-1 in Eastern Athletic League play following a 40-14 loss to Enterprise on Friday night in Redding.
The Hornets led 19-0 at halftime and led 40-7 after three quarters.
Chico’s Jaden Neugebauer completed a pass to Andrew Hernandez for a touchdown in the final minute of the third quarter. The Panthers scored a rushing TD halfway through the fourth quarter to trim the Hornets’ lead to 40-14.
Chico now prepares for the Almond Bowl against crosstown rival Pleasant Valley at 7 p.m. Friday at Panther Stadium at Chico High.
East Nicolaus 25, Paradise 15 >> The Bobcats’ comeback attempt fell short in their road loss in Nicolaus.
Down 19-0, Paradise kicker Max Luna kicked a 28-yard field goal with four minutes left in the second quarter, and Aaron Davis scored a 16-yard rushing TD with under a minute until halftime to trim the Spartans’ lead to 19-9. Davis completed a 10-yard passing TD to Davis Limbaugh with 9:00 left in the third quarter, but the Spartans scored the final TD with 10 minutes left in the fourth quarter.
Paradise (1-5, 0-2 Sacramento Valley League) plays next at 7 p.m. Friday at home against Colusa.
Orland 35, Gridley 17 >> Gridley led by three at halftime, but the Trojans outscored the Bulldogs 28-7 in the second half to secure the come-from-behind victory.
Orland quarterback Luke Schager led the Trojans with 224 rushing yards. Manny Rodriguez had two rushing TDs, and Schager had three rushing TDs.
Orland (4-2, 1-0 Butte View League) plays next at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Las Plumas. Gridley (3-3, 0-1 BVL) plays next at 7:30 p.m. Friday at home against Oroville.
Prep volleyball
Pleasant Valley at Southern Cal Invitational >> The Vikings lost four matches at the Southern California Invitational on Friday, falling 2-0 to Lake Stevens, 2-0 to JSerra Catholic, 2-1 to Del Norte and 2-1 to Otay Ranch.
PV (15-12, 5-1 EAL) continues play at the Southern California Invitational on Saturday, before returning to EAL play at 6 p.m. Tuesday at home against Foothill.
College volleyball
Butte 3, Siskiyous 1 >> The Roadrunners opened Golden Valley Conference play with a 3-1 victory in Weed. It was the Roadrunners’ sixth victory in their last seven matches.
No individual stats were provided.
The Roadrunners (6-12, 1-0 GVC) continue GVC play at 1 p.m. Wednesday at College of the Redwoods.
