Peter (“Pete”) Overton passed away peacefully on June 11, 2025 after afour-year battle with cancer.

Pete was born on April 16, 1936 in St. Louis, Missouri. He was the sixth of eight children born to Theodore and Elizabeth (Piezuch) Overton. In December 1940, he and his family moved from Missouri to Upper Lake, California. They made the long journey in Ford Model A cars. In 1942, the family moved to the Plaza District in Orland, CA.

The family purchased a farm north of Orland in 1946. Pete was astar football, basketball, baseball, and track athlete throughout his four years at Orland High School. Pete graduated from Orland High School in 1954. He attended Shasta College after high school and was astar football player for the Knights. He enlisted in the US Air Force in December 1955. He was stationed in San Francisco, Texas, New York, and then in Japan. He played various sports for the Air Force teams including football, baseball, and volleyball. Pete trained to be a dental technician while in the service. He was honorably discharged in 1959.

Pete attended San Francisco City College after being discharged and received his dental tech license. For many years, Pete worked in Dr.

Gleason’s dental office in Orland as a dental technician making dentures and partial dentures for patients. In the final years of his career, he had his own business, Black Butte Dental Lab, in Orland.

After Pete retired, he took atrip across the United States. He saw many beautiful places and visited friends and relatives along the way. For many years thereafter, Pete enjoyed helping his brothers Bob and George on their family almond farms. Pete was a hard worker who loved spending time with his family.

Pete loved to fish and hunt. He enjoyed being with his friends and family on many fishing and hunting trips.

While Pete was a dental technician, he was involved in many activities and clubs in Orland. He played baseball, was an avid bowler, and enjoyed playing cards and dominoes. Healso loved to read, listen to music, dance, and do crossword puzzles.

Pete was aproud member of the Orland Volunteer Fire Department for years. He was also amember of the Knights of Columbus and the Orland Moose Lodge.

He is survived by his brothers Pat Overton and Mike Overton, numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, his stepson Robbie Baugher and his grandchildren Destiny, Sierra, Joshua, and Tasha Baugher.

Pete will be forever remembered for his love of family and friends. We will miss him, his sense of humor and infectious laughter.
