What a magical life Judy lived. Born to Kenny and Betty Webb her personality shone through from a young age.
She loved tohelp her dad when he was working on the car, she learned how to be a great cook from her mom, and being abig sister to her brother Jim brought lots of laughs and memories to last a lifetime.
Judy was not allowed to date the soldiers from the nearby military bases but somehow managed to meet and marry one of these soldiers, the love of her life, Fred Smitley, within six weeks of meeting him. Many have heard the story of how she eloped in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho on March 12, 1960 and was promptly grounded for a couple of weeks because she got home way past her curfew.
Judy was the best momma to her three children: LaVon (Anthony) Gray, David (Luenna) Smitley and Charleen (Robert) Lucio. They can all recall picking their special birthday dinner, and how you didn't dare walk by her with a hole in your clothing. Charleen and Judy spent lots of time together and they could find something to buy in most shops they went tofrom San Juan Bautista to Disneyland and Pikes Market. She was an even better Grandma, Grammie, Mammy toPhillip, Steven (Heather), Anthony (Matt), Brandon (Adriana), Katelyn, Ryan (Liz), Robert, Jarrett and Kenny. She loved the next chapter of her grandma journey as Gigi to Miley, Mitchell and Jerry.
And she was Auntie to a whole host of nieces and nephews.
If you were lucky enough to work with Judy during her 38 years at Franklin McKinley School District then you knew you were in the presence of a firecracker. Judy's personality was larger than life. You were lucky if you crossed her path and got to enjoy her infectious laugh.
And, let's not forget about her annual Christmas party and homemade Almond Roca. Judy had a magnetic personality, and she had too many friends to count. So many that shared so many fun memories (hot tub at Barb's, slumber party at Gail's, Bunco, House of Pizza shenanigans, annual visits from the Bloom family, Art and Wine Festivals with Vanessa, monthly lunches with the retired gals, Tia to the Bravos and her dear friend Marty Magic).
Judy passed unexpectedly from lung cancer that she never got the chance to fight. She wanted everyone to know that cancer can suck it!
Judy is preceded in death by her dad Kenny, her mom Betty and her husband Fred. The family will have aCelebration of Life for Judy in San Jose, CA next spring and Tacoma, WA next summer.
