Hathaway bolts photo shoot to support strikers
Academy Award winner Anne Hathaway reportedly walked off a Vanity Fair photo shoot Tuesday morning in support of union workers protesting Condé Nast.
Nearly 400 employees participated in a 24-hour strike Tuesday in protest of the high-end publishing company’s negotiation practices. According to Variety, “once Anne was made aware of what was going on, she just got up from hair and makeup and left.”
Hathaway, who famously starred as a young journalist subject to a cold and abusive boss in the 2006 film “The Devil Wears Prada,” was reportedly unaware of the planned work stoppage when she arrived for her photo shoot in Lower Manhattan.
Hathaway’s team is said to have been alerted to the protest at the last minute by a member of the SAG-AFTRA union representing actors.
Divorce hinged on having children, Vergara says
Sofia Vergara has reportedly opened up about her split from Joe Manganiello.
In an interview with Spanish newspaper El País, the “Griselda” star revealed that she and Manganiello disagreed about having children, according to People magazine.
“My marriage broke up because my husband was younger; he wanted to have kids and I didn’t want to be an old mom,” Vergara reportedly said. “I feel it’s not fair to the baby. I respect whoever does it, but that’s not for me anymore.”
Vergara, 51, is the mother of an adult son. Manganiello is 47.
CNN reached out to representatives for Vergara and Manganiello for comment.
Jon Stewart to return to ‘Daily Show’ once a week
Longtime “Daily Show” fans, your prayers have been heard. At least partially.
Comedy Central announced Wednesday that comedian and former host Jon Stewart will return to the satirical news program. There’s a catch, though. Stewart will only be behind the desk Mondays. Tuesdays through Thursdays will feature a rotating lineup of comedians hosting.
Stewart will also serve as an executive producer on the show and will oversee it into 2025, according to reports from CNN and Variety.
Stewart jokingly referred to the announcement on X, writing, “Friends. After much reflection I have decided to enter the transfer portal for my last year of eligibility. Excited for the future! 5'7? ish 165 14.8 second 40.”
Stewart served as the host of “The Daily Show” from 1999 to 2015.
