Sometimes I feel like I’m living in a different universe than many of the Speak Out commentators. Many keep wailing about all of the bad things President Biden and Vice President Harris are doing but they never speak of anything concrete. It’s like they’re children who have been made afraid of the boogeyman by their parents so they keep in line. Then there are those who are sure it’s immigrants being held in Texas who somehow are causing the number of COVID-19 cases to rise all across the country Never mind that the biggest increases are in states 1,000 miles or more from the southern border.

When you readthe relentless anti-Democratic comments from Leo, Dave, the two Bobs and John, one gets the feeling that they all got the talking points memo from Trump TV. They parrot the same accusations over and over again. Biden’s hands? Really? One wishes they would back up these slurs with some real provable facts not the same vague, baseless ones they got from Fox. Do some real research, use your Google machine and find the facts.

To Bob fromFrankfort and all the other hardheaded Republicans. You lost the election. The only evidence contrary is from one source, a pathological liar named Donald Trump. Numerous investigations have proven no fraud. Be truthful. You’re angry because you believe the Democrats cheated better than you.

Tim, Matteson

To Steve from Homer Glen. You referred to yourself as an ex-Marine. Most real Marines refer to themselves as a former Marines. Never a ex-Marine. Once a Marine, always a Marine.

Ted Slowik’s Sunday front-page column on low voter turnout due to the extreme volume of candidates running for various local offices is commendable. He states that one solution is consolidation of local government bodies. Hey, Ted, wake up! Consolidation of anything in Illinois is a dirty word for our politicians in Springfield. No matter how in debt the state pension is, or how high our taxes go, no politician will ever use that word in the chambers of government. Ted, you are our Don Quixote fighting the windmills. But please don’t give up; we need more columnists like you.

Correct me ifI’m wrong but isn’t there already measure in place for schools and overseas travel that require proof of immunization against various diseases? We are now dealing with the deadliest disease the globe has seen for 100 years, and yet there are still those die-hard Republicans that are going to make a thing about it and either refuse to be vaccinated or refuse to allow businesses to control who enters their premises. This is nonsense. Let’s get on with it and get our country healthy.
