A teenage girl talked about wanting to kill herself after she was allegedly sexually assaulted by a 20-year-old man in Oak Forest, prosecutors said.

Bail was set Thursday inside Bridgeview courthouse at $250,000 for 20-year-old Jay Gorel, who is charged with one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.

Cook County Judge Peter Felice said it was “troubling” the 14-year-old victim had reportedly expressed ideas of suicide.

Prosecutors said Gorel lived in the same house as the victim and the victim's mother, who had just moved there. The living situation involving Gorel and the victim's family wasn't immediately clear.

But sometime between Aug. 1 and Aug. 30, the victim engaged in sexual intercourse with the Gorel, Cook County prosecutors said.

The teen girl was hospitalized in September and, at some point, expressed suicidal thoughts, prosecutors said.

One night in August, the mother of the victim reportedly woke up to see the teen girl not sleeping where she was supposed to, prosecutors said. The mother walked out to the porch of the house and found her daughter without pants and Gorel not wearing a shirt.

Gorel made statements to police while videotaped saying he and the victim had sex, prosecutors said.

According to his lawyer, Gorel resides in Romeoville, has a fiance and is a father.

Gorel returns to court Nov. 16.
