Broomfield and Boulder County may only host two gymnastics teams, but the ladies provided no shortage of talent on the mats this year. Ten local athletes paved the way toward CHSAA all-state selections following strong performances at the state meets.

Broomfield’s Mia Ritchie, who repeated as the BoCoPreps.com gymnast of the year, paced the area at the Class 5A meet with eighth place in the all-around and a 36.625 score. She tied for fourth (9.550) in floor to secure the only spot for the Eagles on first team all-state.

Kaia Bachrach (sixth on vault, 9.375), Kaya Duncan (seventh on floor, 9.400), Keira La Hue (eighth on bars, 8.850) and Aspen Palillian (seventh on bars, 8.925) all earned spots on second team for the Eagles, and Avery Kang found herself in honorable mention after tying for fifth on beam (9.375).

Niwot, down in 4A, enjoyed even more success as three ladies wrote their names onto first team.

Lilly O’Neill rose as high as fourth place in the all-around, netting a 36.450, and earned her best individual finish with a tie for second on beam (9.325). Maeve Flentie (fourth on beam individually, 9.375; 14th in AA, 35.800) and Kylee Schlepp (second on vault, 9.625) joined O’Neill on first team.

Heidi Herbert, who rounded out the local effort on honorable mention, placed 13th in the all-around (35.900) while placing as high as fourth in the all-around beam competition (9.225).
