An overnight band of light snow will end from the west during the early forenoon Friday with clouds breaking and the sun shining through later in the morning, continuing through the afternoon hours. We may finally reach that elusive 40 degree temperature that has been missing the last 11–day cold spell.

Clouds return quickly overnight, as a deepening low pressure system approaches out of the central plains. Rain will overspread our area by afternoon Saturday with heavy snow to our north and west in Wisconsin, Minnesota and portions of Iowa and severe storms likely developing in the lower Mississippi and Tennessee River Valleys.

Extremely strong WNW winds will follow Sunday with gusts over 50 mph pulling somewhat colder air back into our area.
