This Thursday, Vacaville Museum is hosting its 35th Bunco Bash fundraiser, a popular event that sold out days in advance.
“This is a highly anticipated event for the community every year,” says Clara Dawson, executive director of the Vacaville Museum. “We’re completely sold out at this point. It went really fast because everybody loves this particular event.”
Bunco, game designed around the rolls of three dice, is well known in some circles, says Dawson. “Several people that I’ve talked to who have purchased tickets mentioned that they actually play with other groups,” she says.
However, nothing compares to playing Bunco in the museum, says Dawson.
“There’s something special to the energy that’s in the room and the amount of people in the room,” she said. “Even for folks who play Bunco regularly, it’s just a different atmosphere.”
But it’s not just Bunco. The bash will feature a raffle as well as dinner and drinks. Players can will raffle and Bunco prizes including pizza night, spa day and wine baskets.
Dawson, the museum’s executive director since August, is conducting her first Bunco Bash.
“I’ve heard that Bunco can get really loud, so I expect it to be quite a fun little party,” she laughed. “It seems like it will be a really fun, really lively event.”
As new museum director, Dawson says she’s excited to see new faces in the museum and meet more members of the community.
“I’m really looking forward to meeting those new people and talking with them about how they can stay engaged with the museum year round,” she said.
In total, there will be 56 Bunco players in the Vacaville Museum ready to roll the dice.
