Forward Kevin Knox II scored a game-high 25 points, but Santa Cruz lost 130-113 to the Valley Suns at Mullett Arena in Tempe, Arizona, on Sunday, the Warriors’ first loss of the NBA G League regular season.

Know was 10-of-16 shooting from the field for Santa Cruz (5-1). He also had four rebounds and two assists.

The teams were tied four time and traded the lead 10 times. Santa Cruz held its final lead, 42-41, after Knox dunked with 5:35 left in the first half.

Two-way guard Collin Gillespie gave the Suns the lead for good with his 21-foot pull-up jumper.

Valley quickly extended its lead to double digits, and led by as many as 26 points.

Golden State two-way center Quinten Post, a second-round pick out of Boston College in the 2024 NBA Draft, had 18 points and 16 rebounds, his third double-double in four regular-season games. He made four of the Warriors’ 14 3-pointers.

Guard Yuri Collins also scored 18 points and made eight assists for the Warriors.

Guard Marcus Burk scored 10 points in 12:57 off the bench, and reserve guard Cameron Parker had a career-high eight points and eight assists in 15:56.

Santa Cruz was outscored 54-38 in the paint.

Center Mamadi Diakite led the Suns (4-3) with 21 points.

Guard David Stockton, whose father, John, is a Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer, had 19 points and five rebounds off the bench.

Diakite, Stockton, and forward Jalen Bridges each made four 3s, and the Suns made 18 of their 40 attemtpts (45%) from beyond the arc. Bridges finished with 18 points.

Santa Cruz was 17 of 52 shooting (32.7%) on 3-pointers.

Gillespie posted a double-double with 13 points, 11 rebounds, and seven assists, and two-way guard TyTy Washington Jr. had 16 points, five rebounds, and six assists.

Santa Cruz closed its seven-game road trip against Valley in Tempe, Arizona, on Monday, after the Sentinel went to press. The Warriors play their regular-season home opener against Mexico City (4-2) on Friday at 7 p.m.
