Humboldt Sponsors held its sixth annual blood drive on Feb. 5 at the Northern California Community Blood Bank in Eureka.
Sponsors members and community donors helped make the drive a success. Sierra Carter, NCCBB donor recruiter, helped organized the event and the blood bank provided a nutritious dinner and light refreshments during the blood drive.
“We are so grateful and proud to partner with such incredible women and an organization doing so many great things for the youth of Humboldt County,” said Carter. “We look forward to many more successful drives together in the future.”
Lynn McKenna, blood drive coordinator for Humboldt Sponsors, was responsible for all the donor sign-ups and check-ins, and provided baked goods for all participants.
“We had a total of 42 people participate this year — a great turnout. These donations have the potential of saving 126 lives. We appreciate the community’s support in helping to meet the ongoing critical need for blood donations in our community,” said McKenna.
Humboldt Sponsors, a local, nonprofit charitable organization, is dedicated to raising funds solely to benefit the youth of Humboldt County. Since 1971, the all-volunteer member organization has awarded more than $2,939,000 to area nonprofits that provide services to local children.
