Koby Brea scored 23 points and hit seven 3-pointers off the bench to lead No. 10 Kentucky over No. 6 Florida 106-100 on Saturday, handing the Gators their first loss of the season.

The Gators (13-1, 0-1 Southeastern Conference) had cut an 80-69 Kentucky lead to 89-87 on Walter Clayton Jr.’s free throws with 4:40 remaining, but Lamont Butler hit a 3 as the shot clock wound down and added two free throws to help the Wildcats (12-2, 1-0) hang on.

Butler finished with 19 points and eight assists as Kentucky placed six players in double digits.

St. Thomas 88, North Dakota 80 >> Miles Barnstable’s 30 points led St. Thomas over North Dakota.

Barnstable had five rebounds for the Tommies (12-5, 2-0 Summit League). Nolan Minessale scored 13 points and added eight rebounds. Carter Bjerke shot 4 for 8, including 4 for 7 from beyond the arc to finish with 12 points.

Tennessee 76, Arkansas 52 >> Chaz Lanier scored 29 points to lead No. 1 Tennessee over No. 23 Arkansas and tie for the best start to a season in program history.

The Volunteers (14-0, 1-0 Southeastern Conference) are tied with the 1922-23 team for the best start, according to the school.

Auburn 84, Missouri 68 >> Johni Broome scored 24 points and had seven rebounds and four blocks, and No. 2 Auburn opened Southeastern Conference play with a win over Missouri.

Iowa State 74, Baylor 55 >> Keshon Gilbert had 16 points and 10 rebounds to lead No. 3 Iowa State to a win over No. 25 Baylor in the Cyclones’ Big 12 home opener.

Duke 89, Southern Methodist 62 >> Duke standout freshman Cooper Flagg had 24 points and 11 rebounds as the fourth-ranked Blue Devils, playing without ill coach Jon Scheyer, extended their winning streak to eight games with a win against Atlantic Coast Conference newcomer SMU.

Alabama 107, Oklahoma 79 >> Mark Sears scored 22 points and had 10 assists and No. 5 Alabama dominated in every way for a victory over No. 12 and previously unbeaten Oklahoma in the Southeastern Conference opener for both teams

Texas A&M 80, Texas 60 >> Zhuric Phelps had 18 points and Pharrel Payne added 15 to lead No. 13 Texas A&M to a win over Texas in the Southeastern Conference opener for both schools.

Houston 86, BYU 55 >> Emanuel Sharp had 18 points, Terrance Arceneaux scored 15 and No. 14 Houston beat BYU for its sixth straight win.

Nebraska 66, UCLA 58 >> Brice Williams scored 16 points, Andrew Morgan added 12 off the bench and Nebraska beat No. 15 UCLA.

Arizona 71, Cincinnati 67 >> Jaden Bradley had 15 points, including two free throws that helped Arizona clinch a win over No. 16 Cincinnati.

Mississippi State 85, South Carolina 50 >> Josh Hubbard scored 21 points and Claudell Harris had 17 points and nine rebounds as No. 17 Mississippi State beat South Carolina in the SEC opener for both teams.

Mississippi 63, Georgia 51 >> Matthew Murrell and Jaemyn Brakefield scored 15 points apiece and ignited a decisive second half rally as No. 24 Mississippi defeated Georgia.

Women

UCLA 73, Indiana 62 >> Lauren Betts had 25 points and 12 rebounds and No. 1 UCLA shut out Indiana for more than eight minutes in the first half of a victory in its first visit as a Big Ten Conference member.

Kansas State 77, Texas Tech 57 >> Ayoka Lee scored 19 points and grabbed eight rebounds, Serena Sundell had a double-double and No. 12 Kansas State took control in the third quarter for a win over Texas Tech, the 10th-straight win for the Wildcats.

West Virginia 66, BYU 53 >> JJ Quinerly scored 12 of her 19 points in the second half to help No. 18 West Virginia pull away from BYU.

North Dakota State 73, St. Thomas 59 >> Jo Langbehn scored a game-high 20 points for St. Thomas, but the Tommies lost their second straight Summit League game of the season.

Avery Koenen had 13 points, Abby Krzewinski had 12 and Abbie Draper had 1 points for North Dakota State (9-5, 1-0 Summit).

Jade Hill added 14 points and Amber Scalia had 11 for St. Thomas (8-7, 0-2).
