Keys for the Vikings
• There’s going to be a good chance for the Vikings to get under the skin of veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins this weekend. They know him better than anybody, and that should work in their favor. The fact that Cousins is struggling at the moment also looms large in the matchup. If the Vikings can put some pressure on Cousins in the early stages of the game, he might start to doubt himself.
• Nobody has stopped the run better than the Vikings this season. They are only allowing 81.3 yards per game on the ground and will be looking to continue that trend this weekend against dynamic running back Bijan Robinson. If the Vikings can put the Falcons in as many known passing situations as possible, it’s going to make life even tougher on Cousins whenever he drops back to pass.
Keys for the Falcons
• The secondary for the Vikings is vulnerable right now with veteran cornerback Stephon Gilmore nursing a hamstring injury. If that results in more snaps for veteran cornerback Fabian Moreau, the Falcons should try to exploit that. Let’s just say Moreau is going to have a hard time sticking with star receiver Drake London snap in and snap out.
• Though he hasn’t turned the ball over much as of late, veteran quarterback Sam Darnold has been prone to interceptions this season. That’s something the Falcons need to be aware of if Darnold ever takes a risky shot downfield. If they can win the turnover margin, they will give themselves a chance to score the upset.
