The case against a Pontiac man accused of killing his neighbor and raping the murder victim’s wife and child is bound over to Oakland County Circuit Court for possible trial.

Judge Jeremy Bowie advanced the case against Timothy Legard at the conclusion of a preliminary exam in 50th District Court on Feb. 13.

Legard, 50, faces 11 felony charges including first-degree murder, multiple sex crimes, kidnapping and more for the Sept. 18, 2024 incident. William “Bill” Allison was fatally stabbed outside his home on East Ypsilanti Avenue in Pontiac that day — allegedly by Legard — and officials assert that Legard then entered the home and sexually assaulted Allison’s wife and 8-year-old daughter. The woman and child escaped to a neighbor’s home and called 911, according to the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office.

Oakland County sheriff’s deputies arrived to find Allison dead in the driveway, stabbed in the chest with a kitchen knife. Legard was spotted walking several blocks away and taken into custody.

Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald has described the alleged incident as “a brutal and horrific attack,” and Sheriff Mike Bouchard has described it as “disgusting on so many levels.”

As previously reported, a close friend of the family, Rebecca Pearl, stated that Allison was the sole provider for his wife and daughter, and he devoted his life to them.

Legard is held in the Oakland County Jail, denied bond. His arraignment in the higher court is scheduled for Feb. 24 before Judge David Cohen.
