In the early hours of Tuesday morning, Woodland Police Department detectives arrested a 20-year-old on suspicion of a shooting homicide that occurred in December of last year. The shooting was the last of four murders last year.

On Dec. 22, 2024, Woodland Police officers responded to multiple reports of a shooting on Baird Court near Powers Circle. Despite lifesaving efforts, a 19-year-old victim tragically passed away at UC Davis Medical Center.

A recent WPD Facebook post highlights that from the moment the investigation began, detectives committed themselves fully to seeking justice for the victims and their loved ones. Through relentless investigative work-reviewing evidence, following leads and collaborating with the community, detectives were able to develop a suspect.

On Tuesday, Feb. 25, at 4:41 a.m., after weeks of intensive investigation, WPD detectives, with the assistance of the Yolo County SWAT Team, served a search warrant at a residence on Powers Circle. This operation resulted in the arrest of 20-year-old Miguel Garcia Duran for murder and the personal use of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

He has been booked into the Yolo County Jail.

According to the Facebook post, this case is a testament to the unwavering commitment of the investigators and the strong partnership between law enforcement and the community.
