LANDOVER, Md. >> Blake Horvath outplayed Bryson Daily at quarterback, accounting for 311 yards and four touchdowns to help Navy beat No. 19 Army 31-13 on Saturday.
Horvath threw for 107 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 204 yards and two TDs. Navy (9-3) snapped a two-game losing streak in the series. The teams entered this Army-Navy matchup with a combined 19 victories, the most in the 125-game history of this storied clash.
Daily, who finished sixth in the Heisman Trophy vote this year, threw a touchdown pass of his own, but he was intercepted three times. Army (11-2) fell behind 14-0 in the second quarter and never completely recovered. The Black Knights were coming off a victory over Tulane in the American Athletic Conference title game — the first league title in program history.

Rays and A’s make a trade >> The Athletics added another option for their refurbished rotation, acquiring Jeffrey Springs in a multiplayer trade with the Tampa Bay Rays.
The A’s got Springs and fellow left-hander Jacob Lopez from Tampa Bay for right-handers Joe Boyle and Jacob Watters, infielder Will Simpson and a competitive balance pick in the 2025 amateur draft.
The 32-year-old Springs had Tommy John surgery on April 24, 2023. He returned to Tampa Bay in July and went 2-2 with a 3.27 ERA in seven starts before he was shut down in September because of elbow fatigue.

Bucks top Hawks to earn spot in NBA Cup championship >> Giannis Antetokounmpo had 32 points and was an assist away from a triple-double, Damian Lillard added 25 and the Milwaukee Bucks beat the Atlanta Hawks 110-102 to earn a spot in the NBA Cup championship game.
Antetokounmpo finished with 14 rebounds, nine assists and four blocks for the Bucks, who improved to 11-1 all-time in NBA Cup games — the only loss coming in last year’s semifinals.
Brook Lopez scored 16 for Milwaukee.
Trae Young had 35 points, 10 assists and seven rebounds for the Hawks, who got 15 points and 10 rebounds from Jalen Johnson and 15 points from De’Andre Hunter.

Goalkeeper struck by object >> Bochum’s goalkeeper was struck on the head by an object apparently thrown from the stands at Union Berlin and both Bundesliga teams left the field. When the game resumed, they ran down the clock without trying to score.
Patrick Drewes was preparing to take a goalkick at 1-1 in added time when he was hit by an object with a similar size and shape to a cigarette lighter. He sat down and was given medical treatment.
The referee suspended the game and led both teams off the field.
Nearly half an hour later, the game resumed and Drewes was replaced by striker Philipp Hofmann. With about three minutes left of the game, both teams agreed to not try to score.
Players passed the ball around the field, walked and had conversations with opponents while waiting for the referee to declare the game over.
Bochum coach Dieter Hecking said Drewes was being taken to hospital.
Premier League Roundup >> Premier League leader Liverpool twice came from behind with 10 men to draw with Fulham 2-2, yet dropped points for the second straight match to give hope to its title rivals.
Arsenal failed to take advantage.
A 0-0 draw at home to lowly Everton left third-placed Arsenal still six points behind Liverpool and will go down as a big opportunity missed.
College basketball
No. 17 Texas A&M beat No. 11 Purdue >> Zhuric Phelps and Pharrel Payne each scored 16 points to lead the Aggies past the Boilermakers 70-66 in the first of two games at the Indy Classic.
The Aggies (9-2) have won five straight. Payne had season-high totals in points and rebounds with nine. All-SEC guard Wade Taylor IV finished with 15 points and five assists before an injury forced him to leave with 1:36 to play.

Lee wins LIV promotion event >> Lee Chieh-po birdied four of his last five holes for a 7-under 64 in the morning and closed with a 68 in the afternoon to win the LIV Golf Promotions, giving the 30-year-old from Taiwan a spot in the lucrative LIV Golf League next year.
Lee, who goes by the nickname “Max” given to him when he was 6, won by two shots over Branden Grace and Taichi Kho.
Kinhult leads into the final round of Alfred Dunhill championship >> Marcus Kinhult will take a two-shot lead into the final round of the Alfred Dunhill Championship as the Swedish golfer bids to win his first title on the European tour in 5 1/2 years.
Kinhult got up and down for birdie from a greenside bunker at the par-5 No. 18 to shoot 3-under 69 in the third round. He was 14 under for the tournament.

Butker back for Chiefs >> The Chiefs will have kicker Harrison Butker back after missing four games to knee surgery but will be without left tackle D.J. Humphries because of a hamstring injury when Kansas City visits Cleveland.
The Chiefs activated Butker from injured reserve and waived fellow kicker Matthew Wright. Wright had kicked the past two games after fill-in Spencer Shrader went on IR with a hamstring injury, going 8 of 9 on field goals and making both of his PATs.
