55 Year Resident of Santa Cruz
Tammy Lyn Garcia peacefully passed away at her home in Santa Cruz on June 24, following a courageous battle with cancer; just two days before her 63rd birthday. Her loving family surrounded her when she passed.
Tammy was born on June 26, 1961 in Oakland, California. Tammy and her family fell in love with Santa Cruz during frequent visits, eventually making it their permanent home in 1970.
Tammy dedicated 33 years of her life to banking, starting as a teller and working her way up-to-branch manager. She worked at Bank of the West, Community Bank, Rabobank (later Mechanics Bank), and retired in 2023. She will fondly be remembered and cherished by her staff and her customers for the exceptional care and professionalism she had.
Outside of work, her biggest joy was spending time with family and making wonderful meals. She was a talented chef and baker; also involved with many local community organizations including LeTip, Sunrise Rotary, and Relay for Life.
She was preceded in death by her son Brian Garcia in 2000 and her parents Laurie and Arthur Page in 2014.
Tammy is survived by her devoted husband of 44 years, Jorge Garcia, her daughter and son-in-law Marissa and Steve Monterroso, her granddaughter Harlow Monterroso, her sister and brother-in-law Dawn Olson and Jeff Krogh, and many loving extended family members and friends. In accordance with her wishes, no formal services will be held. In lieu of flowers, a kind act of charity to Hospice of Santa Cruz or a charity of your choice is preferred.
