Minnesota extended their home win streak to 13 games on Wednesday night with a 76-50 win over Rutgers, led by Amaya Battle’s 21 points.
Three other Gophers hit double figures, with McKenna Johnson adding 15 points, Grace Grocholski 12 points, and Sophie Hart notching her second career double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. The Scarlet Knights were held to 12.5 percent shooting beyond the arc.
Rutgers drew first blood, starting the game with a 2-0 lead, but Minnesota answered with an 8-0 run. By the end of the first quarter, the Gophers led 19-11, and they never trailed again.
The Gophers (16-1) also pushed their conference record to 4-1, and the Scarlet Knights (8-8, 0-5 Big Ten) still lack a conference win.

Sarah Strong added 15 points — all in the first half — with seven rebounds and five steals for UConn (14-2, 5-0 Big East). UConn played without leading scorer Paige Bueckers. Bueckers suffered a knee injury in Sunday’s win over Villanova. There is n o timetable for her return but UConn coach Geno Auriemma thought there was a chance Bueckers could return next week.
Ohio State 84, Michigan 77 >> Jaloni Cambridge scored 22 of her 29 points in the second half, leading No. 9 Ohio State in a comeback win against No. 25 Michigan.
The Buckeyes (15-0, 4-0 Big Ten) are off to their best start since opening 19-0 two years ago.

Alabama 88, South Carolina 68 >> Mark Sears scored 22 points — hitting of 4 of 6 3-pointers — to help No. 5 Alabama beat South Carolina for its seventh straight victory.
Aden Holloway added 13 points for the Crimson Tide (13-2, 2-0 Southeastern Conference) in their 10th straight victory over the Gamecocks (10-5, 0-2).
Villanova 68, Connecticut 66 >> Eric Dixon scored 18 of his 23 points in the second half and Villanova held on for victory over No. 9 UConn after the Huskies’ Alex Karaban missed two free throws with 3.1 seconds left.
Wooga Poplar added 18 points for Villanova (11-5, 4-1 Big East), which led by as many as 12 points in the second half.
