Fifty-eight athletes and one coach from the Boulder, Broomfield and Longmont areas paved their way onto CHSAA’s all-state football teams.

Broomfield, the Class 4A state champion, led all local teams with coach of the year honors for Robert O’Brien and had eight players selected.

Named to 4A’s first team for the Eagles, was senior DB/WR and Daily Camera defensive player of the year Mikhail Benner (710 receiving yards, 10 touchdowns, 46 tackles), junior OT Isaiah Garcia Perez, seniors DL/OL Ty LaCrue (five sacks, 44 tackles), DE/Slot Elliot Less (3.5 sacks, 635 total yards), RB Colin Torres (1,336 rushing yards, 15 touchdowns) and LB/Slot CT Worley (444 total yards, 63 tackles, three sacks).

Seniors ILB Maverick Scarpella and DB/PR Mason Smiley were honorable mentions for Broomfield.

Frederick was next in line with five nods in 4A, led by first-teamer, senior QB/CB and Times-Call offensive player of the year Gavin Ishmael (2,780 passing yards, 31 touchdowns) and second-teamer, TE/WR Burke Eismann (728 receiving yards, 10 TDs). Seniors NG Sam Chambers, WR Jeezrel Palma and G/DE Rylan Zadel were honorable mentions.

Monarch added five HMs in seniors RB/LB Wyatt Carlucci, OL/DL Andrew Martin, QB/DL Riley Montemayor, TE/DL Sean Williams and sophomore Malakhi Payne.

Centaurus added two HMs in senior WR Travis Meine and junior K Greg Hubbard. Longmont’s junior WR/CB Joey Foot, Silver Creek’s junior QB/FS Nolan Gaccetta and Skyline’s senior OL Oliver Glasser were also HMs.

In 5A, Fairview’s WR/DB/RB Jordan Rechel, the Daily Camera offensive player of the year, led the classification in touchdowns for a second straight year, totaling 29 in 2024.

Only Rechel and the state’s career passing TD record holder — Mountain Vista’s Austyn Modrzewski — were voted to CHSAA’s 5A first team by coaches the past two seasons.

Alongside Rechel, junior teammate WR/RB/DB Toray Davis (six rushing TDs, 11 receiving TDs, four interceptions and three forced fumbles) was also named to the first team for the Knights, who reached the semifinals for the first time since 2013. LB/RB Brock Kolstad, LB/RB Ryder Villarreal, OL/DL Colin Overy, OL/DL Enzo Pulte and K Ben Mitchell were honorable mentions for Fairview.

Erie, which reached the quarterfinals in its first year in 5A, had two second teamers in OL/DL Cole Powell (committed to Eastern Michigan) and RB Braylon Toliver (1,173 rushing yards, 14 total TDs and six interceptions). MLB/RB Carson Hageman, the Longmont Times-Call defensive player of the year, led the team’s HMs, which also included QB Ronin Ward, DT/G Owen Collard and K Mason Guven.

Boulder had HMs in P/K Asher Baruch and LB/S Ramses Schorr. Legacy had another in RB/WR/OLB Tyler Anderson.

In 3A, runner-up Mead had seven players selected. LB/G Dresden Spendlove (65 tackles, 3 1/2 sacks, three forced fumbles), DE Hagen Williams (85 tackles, nine for loss and three sacks) and G/DE Luke Hidalgo were first-team selections, while RB/CB Edison Burke (six TDs, 29 total tackles) made the second team. Its honorable mentions included RB/LB Ethan Elmore, C/DT Grant Gordon and RB/MLB Carter Woods.

Holy Family, the 2023 champs, had five. T Matthew Sakkaris (made the 2023 second team) now made the first team, while QB Monte Samaras (14 passing TDs, 15 rushing TDs) and K/P Oliver Hansen (6 for 6 FGs, 43 of 46 PATs) were put on the second team.

OL Mason Ochs and TE/DL Anderson Osburn were HMs.

Niwot’s DB Wyatt Volf was also a 3A honorable mention.

In 1A, Prospect Ridge Academy had honorable mentions in WR/DE Travis Agbosse, OL/DL Joshua Boyer and RB/LB Machaon Puga.

The two smallest teams in Boulder County flaunted their own talent. Lyons’ senior OL/LB Wyatt Fitzgerald and OL/DL Kayden King, as well as Justice senior ATH/ILB DJ Mack, were 8-man honorable mentions.
