Barbara A. Minui Nov. 11, 1933 to May 28, 2024.
Barbara was a treasure who will be dearly remembered and greatly missed. Survived by her children Marian J. Minui Wymore, Nancy I. Minui, Daria Minui Thomas, Marty Minui, his wife, Melissa, and grandchildren, Trenton Thomas, Garrett Wymore and his wife, Caroline.
Playful, forgiving, authentic, curious, and passionate, Mom taught us that all stages of life can be beautiful.
After a BA (Rice University) and MSW (Smith Col- lege), she married Morteza Minui, MD (03/12/27 to 07/21/96). With a Baptist mom and Moslem dad, we attended Birmingham Unitarian Church and were raised with one God and peace between faiths. Watching “I Love Lucy”, we all laughed at similarities between Dad’s accent and our red- headed Mom’s antics. They raised us in Bloomfield Hills.
Barbara later lived in Carlsbad, CA, then Southfield and Madison Heights, MI (where she was Lieutenant Governor of Kiwanis). She enjoyed dancing, her garden, taking cruises, painting, and animals.
She moved to Oakland, CA in 2021 after a stroke, but remained lively and active. She lived life fully in the present moment until her last days, enjoying family, friends, and even boyfriends (she outlived most of them). But she held Morteza’s photo to her chest on her deathbed.
In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the eastbayspca.org to honor her love of animals.
