SANTA CRUZ >> The city of Santa Cruz will hold an online community meeting from 6 p.m. to 7:30 Monday regarding a six-story mixed-use building proposed to fill three lots on the 1800 block of Mission Street in Santa Cruz.

The developer behind the mixed-use project is the firm Workbench, which is the developer behind numerous projects in the city including the Clocktower Center project proposed for downtown Santa Cruz.

The proposed project on Mission Street would span three parcels, 1811, 1815 and 1819 Mission St. and calls for the demolition of three existing single-family residences with detached garages.

The proposed project would be approximately 71 feet high and contain six stories with five floors of residential use above mixed-use commercial uses on the ground floor, which would feature a commercial space at Mission Street and Dufour Street with a designated outdoor seating area.The ground floor would also contain a residential lobby and residential amenities and a parking garage with 14 parking spaces meant for commercial and residential use, according to the project plans.

Among the five stories containing 68 residential units, 20 would be two-bedroom units, 14 would be considered “double” units, 26 would be considered “A” studios and 8 would be “B” studio apartments.
