



Adrian Castaneda, Carlos Cruz, Oscar Knapp and Diego Grabiel each had three hits, and the Cabrillo College baseball team beat host Hartnell 14-8 in the teams’ Coast Conference South Division win Thursday.
Cabrillo (8-13, 1-1) has scored 10 or more runs in five of its eight wins.
The Seahawks finished with 18 hits, one walk, and two stolen bases. Knapp had three RBI and scored twice, Grabiel had three RBI and scored a run, Cruz had two RBI and one walk. Jayson Schmeisser had two hits, two RBI, and three runs scored.
Anthony Sullivan gave up four run, three earned, six innings and earned the win. Joseph Rosales gave up seven runs, three earned, over 2 2/3 innings and took the loss.
Senior Jayleen Arredondo took first in the pole vault (7-0).
Cabrillo hosts Hartnell (10-12, 1-1) on Saturday at 1 p.m.
Boys track and field
Watsonville 70.5, at Everett Alvarez 61.5 >> Freshman Noel Navarro was part of three wins in the Wildcatz’s meet win Thursday.
Navarro took first in the 100 (12.68) and 300 (46.15), and teamed with Jaedel Gabug, Leeandro Serrano, and Larry Raygoza for first in the 4×100 relay (48.97).
Wildcatz senior Nathaniel Aceves-Aguilar took first in the shot put (42 feet, 3 inches), and junior teammate Lisandro Pantoja took first in the discus (141-1).
Girls track and field
At Everett Alvarez 69, Watsonville 63 >> Senior Katelynn Ruiz took first in both the 800 (2:36.70) and 1,600 (5:39.83) for the WIldcatz in their PCAL meet Thursday.
Watsonville senior Jayleen Arredondo took first in the 100 hurdles (21.01) and pole vault (7-0), and Jocelyn Guzman took first in the 300 hurdles (52.50).
Wildcatz sophomore Brianna Vanegas took first in the triple jump (28-9.75).
High school baseball
At Harbor 2, North Monterey County 1; 8 inn. >> The Pirates earned a walk-off win in their nonleague game Thursday.
Senior Brody Nelsen had two hits and an RBI for the Condors (3-4).
Harbor (6-1) hosts vs Watsonville on Saturday at 11 a.m.
High school softball
At Soledad 10, Monte Vista Christian 6 >> Kayla Fullalove-Silveira, Addie Boles, and Samantha Bertoldi each had three hits in the Mustangs’ loss to open PCAL Mission Division play Thursday.
Bertoldi had two RBI and a run scored, Fullalove-Silveira had one RBI and a run scored, and Boles scored twice. Gianna Johnson had two hits, including a double, and scored twice.
Harper Ealy Whitby gave up 10 runs, three earned, over six innings and took the loss.
MVC (4-4, 0-1) hosts Alisal on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
At Soquel 18, MVC 12 >> Kayla Fullalove-Silveira hit for the cycle, had four RBI, and scored three runs in the Mustangs’ nonleague loss Tuesday.
Ava Alvarado had four hits, including two doubles, on RBI, and scored three runs for the Mustangs (4-3). Juliana Lopez had two hits and three RBI, and Samantha Bertoldi scored three runs.
College softball
San Jose City 12, at Cabrillo 1; 5 inn. >> Brooklyn Llamas had a hit and an RBI in the Seahawks’ Coast Conference loss Thursday.
Pinch runner Isabel Giroux scored the lone run for the Seahawks, who finished with three hits and zero walks.
Evangelina Chavarria had two hits, including a solo home run, and two RBI for the Jaguars (22-1, 3-0).
Priyah Quinonez gave up an unearned run over four innings and earned the win. Rachel Hafer was tagged for seven runs, six earned, in the loss.
Cabrillo (2-19-1, 0-3) hosts Lassen (6-10) in a doubleheader on Friday at noon and 2 p.m.
Boys volleyball
Scotts Valley 3, Rancho San Juan 0 >> Junior opposite Will Shanks had five kills, six digs, five assists, and one block in the Falcons’ 27-25, 25-20, 25-23 loss Thursday.
Junior middle blocker Devin Bloom had five kills and two blocks for the Falcons.
Junior setter Troy Thompson had 14 assists, three blocks, three aces, two digs, two kills.
At Hollister 3, Scotts Valley 1 >> Senior middle blocker Otto Palma had 12 kills, four blocks, and two digs, but the Falcons lost their nonleague match 25-23, 25-16, 21-25, 25-22 on Wednesday.
Outside hitter Raith Wallwork had seven kills, three blocks, and an ace for the Falcons. Senior middle blocker Flavio Aiudicii made two kills and two blocks.
Scotts Valley (3-7) hosts Rancho San Juan (3-5) on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
Harbor 3, at Soquel 0 >> Junior Josh Rejfir had 14 kills and eight digs in the Pirates’ 25-19, 25-15, 27-25 sweep in Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League action Tuesday.
Junior Cooper Lastition had 11 kills, three blocks, and four digs for Harbor, and sophomore Eddie Weaver made 32 assists.
Senior Abe Schmidt made 13 digs, junior Grady McKee had five blocks, and sophomore JJ Laughlin served to aces.
Harbor (9-0, 2-0) plays at Mount Madonna on March 19 at 5 p.m.
