SANTA CLARA — Amazon struck a deal with WeWork to secure space in a Santa Clara office building, according to several sources with knowledge of the transaction.
Sources said Amazon will occupy 141,000 square feet at 4980 Great America Parkway. Bay Area real estate firm The Sobrato Organization developed and owns the campus.
Sobrato executive Chase Lyman declined to comment about the transaction.
Amazon landed the space through a licensing agreement with WeWork, which leased the building from the Sobrato firm.
“We’re pleased to continue supporting Amazon’s real estate strategy through our bespoke enterprise solutions, designed to help corporate occupiers expand their footprints efficiently, flexibly and at scale,” a WeWork spokesperson said.
It wasn’t immediately clear when Amazon might move into the new offices, which are part of a 450,000-square-foot campus, according to sources.
The agreement in Santa Clara extends an expansion by Amazon in Silicon Valley.
In December 2024, Amazon obtained 217,000 square feet of office space through a license agreement provided by WeWork for offices at 401 San Antonio Road in Mountain View. At various times, Facebook and LinkedIn had taken space in the building through rental agreements.
