


Edgewise boosts R&D spending with drug trials underway
Edgewise Therapeutics Inc., a Boulder-based muscle disease biopharmaceutical company, increased its research and development spending slightly in the third quarter of 2024 from the preceding quarter as key drug trials are underway.
Research and development expenses were $32.2 million for the third quarter of 2024, compared with $30.7 million in the second quarter of the year. The increase was driven largely by spending on drug manufacturing
Edgewise posted a net loss of $34.1 million in the most-recent period, compared with a net loss of $31.5 million for the preceding quarter.
French ski brand Blackcrows opens pop-up shop
French ski brand Blackcrows opened a pop-up retail shop this month inside the Rapha store on Boulder’s Pearl Street Mall.
The 1815 Pearl St. pop-up will be open for the full 2024-2025 season.
A similar concept is also open inside Rapha’s Seattle store. The Seattle and Boulder locations are Blackcrows’ first brick-and-mortar shops in the United States.
Playa Bowls franchise coming to Boulder
Playa Bowls, a restaurant chain specializing in fruit bowls and smoothies, will soon open a franchise location in Boulder.
Operated by franchisees Cody Benisch and Robert Wissing, the Boulder store “is set to open near the University of Colorado by year’s end,” a Playa Bowls news release said.
The brand has more than 275 restaurants in 23 states. systemwide, operating in 23 states, including Colorado stores in Denver, Edgewater and Aurora.
CU vice chancellor joins Elevations board
Ann Schmiesing, vice chancellor and executive vice provost for Academic Resource Management at the University of Colorado Boulder and interim chancellor at CU Denver, has been appointed to the board of Boulder-based Elevations Credit Union.
Elevations has about 178,000 members and more than $3.5 billion in assets.
