A state tournament debutant bounced the defending boys lacrosse state champion in a quarterfinal that was a stunner in every sense Tuesday at Eden Prairie High School.

Sixth-seeded East Ridge trailed 6-1 in the second half before reeling off the final five goals of regulation to knot the affair with Benilde-St. Margaret’s. The last of those came on a drive by Kaden Baron to score at the net for his third goal of the day with six minutes to play in the fourth quarter.

The rest of regulation was scoreless, and East Ridge (13-4) emerged victorious 7-6 in overtime as Leo Stalsberg got loose behind the third-seeded Red Knights’ back line on a restart following an out of bounds call and cashed the winner at the net to complete East Ridge’s stirring rally.

The Raptors will meet second-seeded Stillwater in the semis at 3 p.m. Thursday in Chaska.

Stillwater 14, Moorhead 3

The Ponies will play in the semifinals for the second straight season after they breezed by the seventh-seeded Spuds.

Keiran Jones led Stillwater (17-0) with three goals, while Isaac Johnston, Aiden Sargent, Anderson Wagner and Grant Giese added two.

Stillwater beat East Ridge 11-10 on May 1. The winner of the semifinal will earn the program’s first state title game trip.

Lakeville North 12, Minnetonka 8

After falling behind 5-1 in the first quarter of the quarterfinals, fifth-seeded Lakeville North responded with nine of the game’s next 11 goals to oust the fourth-seeded Skippers.

The Panthers (13-4) are now just one game away from their third straight title game appearance. They’ll meet top-seeded Edina at 5 p.m. Thursday.
