Glenn was born and raised in Telluride and Loveland, and then lived in Denver, Colorado.
He was a kind, thoughtful person who loved his family and friends. Glenn had an infectious smile, gave huge hugs, and sang in the shower. He’d hike our mountains and ride the Galloping Goose Trail from Ames to Town and back. He enjoyed traveling, spending time with sea turtles in Costa Rica, and live music. His happy place was rafting the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon. No matter the weather, Glenn showed up in shorts, Hawaiian shirts, and flip-flops.
His trademark hat earned him the nickname “Fedora Penguin.”
Glenn was a straight A student and excelled in sports. He played baseball in Norwood, soccer for Telluride, and was a member of Telluride’s Alpine Race Team (TART) before he transferred to Rowland Hall-St Mark’s High School in Salt Lake City where he lived with a host family, played soccer, and was Co-Captain of the Rowmark Ski Team. At graduation, he received the Scholar Athlete Award.
Glenn spent one semester at Denver University before transferring to Bates College in Maine where he graduated with a B.S. in Physics. While there, he played soccer and ice hockey as well as being one of the top mountain bike racers in the country. Glenn placed 17th in the 2003 NCAA Mountain Bike National Collegiate Race in Angel Fire, New Mexico.
Glenn then studied at the Dr Ida Rolfing Institute in Boulder, Colorado, where he became a Certified Advanced Rolfer.
He continued workshops in Japan where he earned degrees as a Master Rolfer, Certified Advanced Rolfer, a Movements Practitioner, and an expert on Cranial Sacral Therapy. He opened his practice, Rolf Synergy, in Denver.
Glenn’s friend, Karmen Hansen, wrote, “He was a talented healer, dog dad, beer league hockey player, hockey stats wizard, Big Head Todd and Hazel Miller super fan, obsessed cyclist, top chef, Cubs fan, and he bled Avs burgundy and blue. You’ll be missed at every puck drop, goal horn, and playoff run, Ride easy, my friend.” Thank you, Glenn, for the great times and all the laughs!
Glenn is survived by his parents, Bill and Jane; his sister, Jodie (Michael) Maguire; nephew Mikey and niece Mccailee; his seven-year-old son, Logan in Maine, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Glenn is preceded in death by both sets of grandparents, Willard and Martha Janke, John L. and Katherine H.
Rust, and his cousin, Justin Rust.
Glenn felt like the experience of rafting the Grand Canyon changed his life, and in hopes of giving young people this opportunity, we ask that all donations be made to the non-profit Grand Canyon Youth: https://gcyouth.org/donate/.
A Celebration of Life will occur later this year with details forthcoming.
