A 69-year-old Southfield man is facing multiple criminal charges for allegedly sexually abusing two children in his family.

Lawrence Edward Miles, 69, is charged with three counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and two counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct for allegedly assaulting a boy and girl — both under 10 years old.

According to the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office, the charges are in connection with a series of assaults that occurred in 2024 and 2025.

Miles is held in the Oakland County Jail. At his arraignment May 8 in 46th District Court, bond was denied.

Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald said the allegations are “extremely disturbing.”

“Children deserve to grow up safe from abuse, including from family members. I applaud the work of our partners at the Southfield Police Department and CARE House of Oakland County for their diligent investigation into this tragic case,” she said.

Law enforcement officials believe there may be other victims, so anyone with information on additional related crimes possibly tied to Miles is asked to contact the Southfield Police Department at 248-796-5500.

Miles’ next court date is May 22 for a probable cause conference.

First-degree criminal sexual conduct is punishable by up to life in prison with a mandatory minimum of 25 years behind bars, lifetime electronic monitoring and mandatory AIDS/STD testing. Second-degree criminal sexual conduct carries a penalty of up to 15 years in prison, lifetime electronic monitoring and mandatory AIDS/STD testing.
