Erie voters narrowly favored candidate Andrew Moore as mayor, according to early unofficial combined votes from Boulder and Weld County early Tuesday evening.

All seven seats were open for the Erie Town Council, with 13 residents running. Voters elected two candidates per district. The district candidate with the highest number of votes will serve a four-year term and the candidate with the second highest number of votes serves a two-year term.

This is the only year where the candidate with the second highest number of votes will serve a two-year term. The shorter term creates staggered terms to avoid a full council turnover at future elections. After the 2024 election, all elected officials will serve a four-year term.

According to unofficial combined votes from Boulder and Weld County as of 7:17 p.m. Tuesday, mayoral candidate Andrew Moore had 51.2% and Justin Brooks had 48.8%.

In District 1, Anil Pesaramelli had 35% and John Mortellaro had 23.2%. Andrew Sawusch had 23.1% and Richard Garcia had 18.6%.

In District 2, Dan Hoback had 28.6% of the vote and Brandon Bell had 27.4%. Candidate Ben Hemphill had 25.9% and Dan Maloit had 18.1%

In District 3, Emily Baer led the race with 41% and Brian O’Connor had 37%. Candidate Travis Pinz had 22%.

Before the first drop of results was posted, Brooks said he was confident that Erie voters would be able to continue the positive momentum of the past few years.

“I look forward to announcing the development partnership on our newest grocery store site at Town Center in central Erie,” Brooks said.

Before the first drop of results were posted, Moore said he looked forward to his return to politics, having previously served as mayor from 2004 to 2010. Moore has said he returned to politics to help the town.
