DETROIT >> The Detroit Pistons provided another positive update on Jaden Ivey as he continues to recover from a broken left fibula.

However, his return before the end of the season could be in jeopardy.

The Pistons announced in a statement on Saturday afternoon that Ivey’s rehab has progressed to include basketball shooting and skill work.

He is also continuing his training in reconditioning and strength work.

The Pistons will provide another update on Ivey’s status in two weeks.

Ivey’s devastating leg injury took place during the Pistons’ 105-96 win over the Orlando Magic.

The injury halted his career season, when the starting two-guard put together averages of 17.6 points, the highest average of his three year, NBA career, on 46% shooting, 41% 3-point shooting, 4.2 rebounds and 4.0 assists through 29 games.

As he continues to show promising signs of improvement, there is still no timeline for his return.

In March, Ivey noted that he had taken a “day-by-day” approach to his ongoing recovery.

Detroit is trailing the New York Knicks 2-1 in the first round of an Eastern Conference playoff series.

Unless the Pistons can find a way to rally three more wins, their season will be over by the next time Ivey gets evaluated.
