Dr. Charles Eisenman passed away peace- fully at home May 16, 2025, at the age of 90. He enjoyed a career at Macomb Community College for 33 years.
Starting in 1961 as an English teacher he eventually became the Dean of Arts and Sciences. He considered himself a liberal arts person. “I have been lucky enough in my career to provide leadership in liberal arts to students and be a part of the liberal arts tradition” which he descried as “the love of knowledge”. He earned his MA from the University of Detroit and his PHD from Wayne State University. Charles was a member of Lambda Iota Tau (the national honorary the American Association of Higher Education, the National Council of Instructional literary society), Administrators as well as serving as the first president of the Michigan Association of Community College Administrators. He retired in 1994 and he and his wife, Pat, traveled extensively visiting Australia, China, Alaska, South America and many destinations in Europe. They would reside in Florida for several months each winter with daughters and grandchildren visiting. Summer meant trips to the Stratford Shakespearean Festival as well as tending extensive flower beds at home. He was an avid sports fan loyally supporting the Lions, Tigers and Red Wings. Born in Center Line he is survived by his loving wife, Patricia, daughters Therese Bi- anchi, Patricia Benich (Michael), Jeanne McCauley (Scott) and grandchildren Colin Bianchi, Phoebe Benich, Evan Bianchi, Lina Benich, Michael Mc- Cauley, Amelia Benich, and Benjamin McCauley. A private memorial celebration of his life will be held at MCC. Memorial contributions to The Eisenman Family Endowed Scholarship Fund or Henry Ford Hospice.
