Police accuse man of molesting child

San Rafael police arrested an 18-year-old man who allegedly committed sexual offenses against a child.

Police opened an investigation in March after authorities received a report about a possible sexual assault against a minor, Lt. Scott Eberle said. Investigators identified the suspect as Jessy Shol Madrid and arrested him Thursday morning on Bahia Circle. Eberle said detectives searched Madrid’s phone and discovered images depicting suspected child sexual abuse.

Madrid was booked into the Marin County Jail on suspicion of lewd offenses against a child, arranging to meet a minor for sexual offenses, assault with intent to rape and possessing obscene material of a child younger than 14. His bail amount was set at $100,000.

Suspect booked on assault allegations

Police arrested a suspect on allegations of attacking a homeless man in San Rafael.

The incident happened Wednesday night along Andersen Drive, according to the San Rafael Police Department. The suspect allegedly entered the victim’s shelter without his permission, prompting a fight. The suspect allegedly struck the victim with a metal post, causing minor injuries.

Officers arrested the suspect after he fled toward Albert Park Lane. Alexander Gonzalez Davila of San Rafael was booked into the Marin County Jail suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and obstructing peace officers. His bail amount was set at $50,000.

Contracts granted for paving project

The town has awarded nearly $2 million in contracts for pavement work on Paradise Drive.

The project area is about 2,800 linear feet from Mar West Street to the town boundary near Agreste Way, according to a report by the Department of Public Works. One contract is for $1,472,837 plus a 10% contingency for road work by Argonaut Constructors Inc., which submitted the lowest of three bids. Another contract of $193,375 is for construction management services by Pavement Engineering Inc.

The Town Council approved the contracts at its meeting on Wednesday. The town expects the project to take 45 working days starting in mid-June, said David Eshoo, the public works director.
