April 30, 1938 to January 28, 2025 Pasadena John H.B. "Jack" French, former CEO of the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Association, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2025, at his home in Palm Springs, surrounded by family. He was 86.
Born inLos Angeles on April 30, 1938, Jack grew upin Beverly Hills where he played football at Beverly Hills High School and later played for the University of Colorado.
He served in the California Air National Guard during the Berlin Crisis and built a diverse career, including roles at Pan American Airlines, Matson Steamship Lines, the Pasadena Star News, and the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce. He served as Executive Director of the Red Cross Pasadena Chapter before becoming CEO of the Tournament of Roses, leading the iconic Parade and Rose Bowl game from 1981 to 2000.
Jack is survived by his wife of 30 years, Patti; his children, Tim, Stacey, and Katie; three grandchildren, Ruthie, Katherine, and Christopher; four stepchildren, Valerie, Nick, Amy, and Jennifer; as well as 27 step grandchildren and great grandchildren and his constant companion, Australian Shepherd, Tootsie.
He will be remembered for his leadership, kindness, and deep love for his family, community, and football.
