“Inside the NBA” will appear on ESPN and ABC beginning next season as part of a settlement between Warner Bros. Discovery and the NBA.
Warner Bros. Discovery, the parent company of TNT Sports, sued the NBA in New York state court after the league did not accept the company’s matching offer for one of the packages in its new 11-year media rights deal, which will begin with the 2025-26 season.
The settlement is expected to be announced on Monday, three people with knowledge of the deal told The Associated Press on Saturday night.
The people spoke on condition of anonymity because litigation remains ongoing. The deadline to have the lawsuit dismissed is Tuesday.
The settlement was first reported by the Wall Street Journal.
Even though “Inside the NBA” will be on ESPN and ABC beginning with the 2025-26 season, TNT Sports will continue to produce the popular studio show and it will air from Atlanta, except when the show goes on the road.
The quartet of Ernie Johnson Jr., Charles Barkley, Kenny Smith and Shaquille O’Neal will remain with the show. Barkley signed an extension with WBD in August despite the company losing the NBA.
“Inside the NBA” is expected to air during key moments on the league’s calendar — opening night, Christmas Day, the playoffs and the NBA Finals. It is also likely it will be on during Saturday nights the second half of the season when ABC has a prime-time package of games.

Oregon stays on top of writers’ poll
Oregon remained the unanimous No. 1 team in The Associated Press Top 25 college football poll Sunday after its close call at Wisconsin, Notre Dame and Alabama each jumped up two spots and Georgia returned to the top 10. LSU is unranked for the first time in two years.
The unbeaten Ducks are atop the AP Top 25 for the fifth straight week, passing Texas as the No. 1 team for the most polls this season. They received all 62 first-place votes for the third week in a row after scoring their fewest points in 37 games in the 16-13 win over Wisconsin.
The Ducks were followed in the AP poll by No. 2 Ohio State, No. 3 Texas, No. 4 Penn State and No. 5 Indiana for the second straight week. The top five could be due for a shakeup this week with Indiana visiting Ohio State for one of the most anticipated games of the season.
Notre Dame, Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi and Tennessee rounded out the top 10. Georgia got a three-rung promotion to No. 8 with its 31-17 win over Tennessee.
Wisconsin fires offensive coordinator
Phil Longo has been fired as Wisconsin’s offensive coordinator one day after the Badgers fell 16-13 to No. 1 Oregon for their third straight loss.
The move comes after a slide that has dropped Wisconsin’s record to .500 and has put the Badgers’ streak of 22 consecutive winning seasons in jeopardy. Boise State is the only Football Bowl Subdivision program with a longer active streak of seasons finishing above .500.
Longo came to Wisconsin after a successful four-year stint as North Carolina’s offensive coordinator working with current NFL quarterbacks Sam Howell and Drake Maye, the No. 3 overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft. He also had been Mississippi’s offensive coordinator from 2017-18.

Sinner opens up on doping case after win
Sleepless nights. Constant thoughts of what went wrong — and how it could have been prevented.
Jannik Sinner opened up about his ongoing doping case after beating U.S. Open runner-up Taylor Fritz 6-4, 6-4 on Sunday for the ATP Finals trophy before his home fans in Turin, Italy.
Sinner tested positive in two separate drug tests in March and a decision to clear him of wrongdoing was appealed by the World Anti-Doping Agency in September. A final ruling is expected from the Court of Arbitration for Sport early next year.
Sinner’s explanation was that the banned performance-enhancer entered his system unintentionally through a massage from his physiotherapist, who had used a spray containing the steroid to treat his own cut finger.
“I’ve kept on thinking about where we went wrong and what we could have done better,” Sinner said in Italian. “I had days where I wasn’t feeling great; nights when I didn’t sleep well.
“But when I put my hat on, I don’t think about what’s going on beyond the court,” Sinner added. “I’m fortunate to have people around me who keep me stable. Thanks to them we’ve continued to work hard every day like there’s no tomorrow and we’ve even improved in this period.”
