A Sterling Heights man was ordered last week to serve 25 to 75 years in prison for sexually assaulting a girl under age 13 multiple times.

Larry Devere Middleton, 33, received the sentence Thursday from Macomb County Circuit Judge Matthew Sabaugh after he was convicted of two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and one count each of second-degree criminal sexual conduct, assault with attempt of sexual penetration and indecent exposure, following a four-day jury trial in January, according to court records

The incidents occurred on or about July 1 last year.

The victim spoke at the sentencing last Thursday, according to court records.

“I commend the bravery of the young survivor and the dedication of our prosecutors and law enforcement in securing this conviction,” said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido in a press release.

The case was tried by Assistant Macomb Prosecutor Mark Laws. The minimum sentence is a mandatory 25 years due to the victim being under 13 and her assailant being over 17.

Middleton must register as a sexual offender list and face lifetime electronic monitoring if released.
