Medium at the Mansion in Joliet welcomes back Michael Gourley

The death of a loved one sometimes haunts a person. One way to heal from such a loss is turning to a psychic medium.
Tickets for Michael Gourley’s Oct. 29 program at Jacob Henry Mansion Estate sold out so the Joliet venue added a second Medium at the Mansion on Nov. 5.
“They have literally all walks of life, which is so cool because you have a mixture of elderly, young, all different types of personalities and people that come from all over the place,” said Gourley via phone from his Montgomery home office.
“It’s such a mixture of energy. When spirits come through and everybody’s on the same level, we’re all the same. It’s something we all have in common. The environment and the history gets everybody in the mood anyway because you’re in this beautiful mansion,” he said.
“It brings a lot of people together. I feel like everyone can relate to each other during this event.”
The event features a luncheon, a group reading with Gourley and the opportunity to tour the Jacob Henry Mansion Estate, which was built in 1873 and is a National Historic Landmark.
“I’m not there to convert anybody’s beliefs,” said Gourley who has been appearing at Jacob Henry Mansion Estate for the past few years and sharing his psychic abilities of clairvoyance and clairsentience as well as being a sensitive and able to view auras.
“I let people come the way they are. The spirit pops up as a bunch of light. They show me pictures, symbols and imagery. They literally pull me toward people in the audience. They will give me things that will identify them and give closure to the one that may need it. There’s laughs. There’s a lot of tears.
“Going into it with an open mind, you get the most out of it. You have to experience it to believe it.”
“You don’t really know you’re different until someone points it out. I was very blessed to have people that didn’t look at me as weird,” he said.
If Gourley’s face seems familiar, it might be because the Travel Channel tapped him for a “Dead Files Revisited” episode titled “Intolerance,” which originally aired in November 2015 and featured him helping to cleanse the Barbee Hotel in Warsaw, Ind., of negative entities.
“They had so many things going on. There was a murder there. There was also a lot of mob activity back in the day. The mobsters used to hide out there,” he said.
“When I showed up there were hawks circling around the building. It was a mixture of crazy ghost activity and negative imprints that were still being felt by others. I had a great time. It was such a fun experience.”
Although some may look at Gourley as simply entertainment, he works as a psychic medium partly as a tribute to his sister who died in 2013.
“While I do it to bring peace, it’s a mixture of emotions. I do it to honor my sister, put more light in the world and bring more magic into the world,” he said about Katelynn Gourley.
“I also use it as a tool myself to remind me to include loved ones in what I do.”
