


Brooklyn Hatch scored on a penalty shot in the fourth overtime period as No. 6 Tam survived a scare but pulled out a 12-11 victory against No. 11 Branson in the D-I playoffs on Tuesday. Tam (13-5-1) takes to the road Thursday for a quarterfinal matchup with No. 3 Amador Valley.
Hatch forced overtime as she found the back of the net with nine seconds left in regulation to even the score.The Red-tailed Hawks got a team-high three goals Sara Cormier and Quinlin Dayton added a pair of goals.
Audrey and Lila Spaly scored four goals each for Branson, which got two goals from Ava Grevelding.
Branson goalie Charlie Goldstein finished with six saves, whileTam goalie Jamie Lemberg had seven saves.
• No. 5 Marin Academy held on for a 12-11 victory over No. 12 University on Tuesday and clinch a quarterfinal matchup with No. 4 Marin Catholic. Marin Academy (16-3) beat University just four days earlier in the Bay Counties League championship, in addition to two regular-season wins over the Red Devils. Thursday’s quarterfinal is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. in Kentfield.
• No. 2 Redwood rolled past No. 11 Las Lomas, 16-2. The Giants (16-4) are scheduled to host No. 7 Monte Vista on Thursday.
Boys lacrosse
Mikey Giomi netted a game-high seven goals and five assists as No. 6 seed San Marin dominated No. 11 Northgate, 18-6, in Tuesday’s opening round of the North Coast Section Division II tournament.
The Mustangs will face either No. 3 Amador Valley or No. 14 Alhambra in Thursday’s quarterfinals.
San Marin got five goals and three assists from Luke Saysette, and two goals each from Braydon Brush and Dylan Falk. Buddy Nebb and Lucas Wowk rounded out the Mustangs scoring with one goal each.
• Terra Linda upended No. 12 College Park, 17-7, in Tuesday’s opening round of the NCS D-II tournament. The No. 5 Trojans (9-9) will travel to No. 4 Foothill in Thursday’s quarterfinal.
Prep softball
San Domenico pitchers Marin Louie and Rani Wright-Ohja combined for 10 strikeouts as the Panthers overwhelmed Making Waves Academy, 26-7, on Tuesday.
Louie struck out six batter during three innings on the hill, and at the plate was 2-for-4 with two doubles, a walk and four runs. Ohja had four strikeouts in two innings of work, and scored four runs for the Panthers.
Freshman Rory Brunetti homered, while junior Delaney Whaley doubled and scored three runs. Senior Charlotte Savitz tripled and scored four runs, while sophomore Alexis Weidner scored three runs.
Boys volleyball
Beckett Shewey had 13 kills on 16 attempts as Redwood breezed into the North Coast Section Division II quarterfinals following a 25-11, 25-22, 25-17 home win against No. 12 Making Waves Academy on Tuesday.
Jack Alley had 16 digs and Evan Wang had 10 for the No. 5 Giants, who are staying at home for Thursday’s quarterfinals after No. 13 Head-Royce took out No. 4 El Cerrito in five sets.
Leighton Olsen had 22 assists for the Giants. Charlie Gehrman had seven kills.
• Middle blockers Alex Read and Vincenzo Bezerra had season highs of kills to help lead No, 9 Tam to a 25-19, 25-16, 25-20 road win against No. 8 Kennedy (Richmond) in the first round of the D-III playoffs on Tuesday. Yaseen Ashraf had a 12-point service run to help the Red-tailed Hawks pull away. Tam (18-14) is set to travel and face No. 1 Encinal at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
• Zach Wulff had 38 kills as No. 14 Archie Williams went on the road and took down No. 3 Cardinal Newman 25-23, 25-23, 18-25, 25-15 in the D-IV playoffs on Tuesday. Wulff added five kills, two blocks, and two assists for Archie Williams (10-20). The Peregrine Falcons travel to face No. 6 Alhambra (13-9) in the quarterfinals at 7 p.m. Thursday. Max Brasler dished out 45 assists to go with six kills and two aces. Freshman libero Nash Freeman had 20 digs and three aces.
• No. 4 seed Terra Linda picked up a 25-22, 25-14, 25-23 home win against No. 13 Stuart Hall on Tuesday to advance in the D-IV playoffs. The Trojans (14-11) stay home for Thursday’s quarterfinal against No. 12 Benicia (11-13).
