Kubowicz said. “That just makes them work even harder. We talk about how the longer the streak goes, the more teams are going to be hyped up to play us and rise to the challenge.

“It puts a target on our back because everyone is going to want to be the team that scores on us.”

Lockport (7-3-1, 2-1), indeed, gave the Eagles their closest game of the season.

The Porters kept it scoreless until the final minute of the first half when Ibrahim ripped a shot that went off the bottom of the crossbar and came down beyond the goal line to give Sandburg the lead.

Ibrahim, a senior playing high school soccer for the first time after previously playing only club, is enjoying the ride.

“You don’t have the support of just your teammates, you have the support of the entire school,” she said. “It kind of makes us feel kind of famous.

“People see us in the hallways and they’re like, ‘Oh my God, you still have that shutout streak going.’ It feels great.”

Richardson made it 2-0, scoring on a high shot off a 25-yard free kick with 6 minutes, 18 seconds to go.

Molly Fischer needed to make just one save to record the shutout, but it was a tough one, as she leapt to tip Anna Domina’s shot wide with two minutes left.

Bella Bozen made 13 saves for the Porters.

“We showed that we could battle,” Lockport coach Todd Elkei said. “I loved our spirit.

Bella was outstanding. Without her, they could have had a couple more.

“Our defense held their own. We just have to figure out how to not panic and connect some passes to relieve some pressure and get some offense going. We play them again (May 24), so we’ll see what we can figure out.”
